@little blue star - he is clearly v misguided. I was unsure when I heard they were recasting Mitchell from the pilot ... until I saw AT. After that, I was v happy indeed
Exactly Su, we were hooked in by Aiden, Russell & Lenora, (& Jason) so anybody else playing their roles seems strange to us. It must be how the original pilot watchers must have felt.
Have to say though, I don't really enjoy watching the pilot, it's lacking the small funny bits the series offers

@LouLou ~ yeah I feel like there's not the same level of comedy in the pilot. And the the relationships between Mitchell, George and Annie are not as balanced, Mitchell seems to over dominate the trio.

A bit late to the party but wotthehell... Found myself stranded without computer access on the big First Rewatch day, so I've just caught up with my very first viewing of the pilot- huge fun! And that's an undead ringer for my own actual coffee table right there - watching with my feet actually on it when its screen double popped into view - weird.
Only real regret is that Adrian Lester was obviously way too busy with Hustle to continue as Herrick - how much better that would have been throughout- he's not even slightly annoying! Loved the music, the script, the set and locations (easy to forget how Bristolian grunge was so NEW an approach...), shared George's instant dislike of original Annie, but she was growing on me towards the end. Original Mitchell working fine for me, too - overgrown goth is a perfect disguise for a vampire - so tacky it would deflect any suspicion. So yay to the BBC back then for having to wit to commission it further, and to us for giving it the original viewing figures it needed.
