Well spotted, Mrs B-

Congratulations on achieving guru-dom, Su - but if it's not you (as queen of the blog) who awards these titles, who is the clever bod in charge of post-counting?

Happy end of the weekend, folks!

I enjoy Ripper Street more and more, and the new addition is doing no harm at all! But for me he barely had enough to say yet, to figure out that he was really using his real Irish accent as publicised, or not. You must have a better ear... when his police superiors actually let him get a word in, I'll be even happier.

My mum honestly adores that voice of his, haha! I was quite sceptical of Ripper Street at first but the last episode has me hooked (and not just because Flight was introduced!).

I'm merely speculating here but I thought Flight was trying to downplay his Irish accent, if that makes sense? Maybe he didn't want to stick out too much. I'm not sure how English-Irish relations were in that time period but I can only assume things might have been tumultuous!

You noticed too! Could be right there SabasReflection, English-Irish relations were difficult at that time, so Flight may have wanted to downplay his Irish background.

He was called quiet in the last episode, so I did wonder if we were supposed to make something of it! And maybe I just imagined this, but I felt that he seemed a little cautious when he was at the pub with the others. I think he looked around very briefly.

Rest assured, the big puffy jacket isn't part of his costume! I believe it's one of the jackets that these actor types get given to keep warm :) lol!

I've gotta say, I love this look! He looks HOT!!

Still very much enjoying the Ripper Street look myself - and looking forward to this new series too now you've put my mind at rest that it's not some dubious celebrity cooking-while-wearing-dated-skiwear challenge.

I read that the actors are doing a lot of improvising for Suspects. Is this true? That seems rather challenging!

The channel 5 site does say that is what they are doing, sounds excitig. I imagine it will feel more real, people not taking it in turns to speak etc

Improvising is definitely better than a script; more natural acting!

Now I know this sounds incredibly farfetched... I didn't believe it myself at first... but my sister pointed out a ^slight^ Damien lookalike to me... in the music video for Ylvis' "The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)". It probably sounds ridiculous. My guess is that it is one of the Ylvis duo who resembles him in ^some^ shots... except with curly hair, of course. :P Have a look, anyone?

Don't know about everyone else, but I'm still loving Ripper Street. But if we ever did a rewatch of it together , and played the new drinking game: down a shot whenever Mr Molony gets a line, we'd all go to bed tragically sober... homeopathic doses of his acting talent are Not Enough!

hahahaha Marigold

He's like some exotic bird to be spotted only occasionally and heard even more infrequently.  We could just play the spot the Flight game... yeah, still tragically sober...

Hi Whimsy - we'd better get into twitching practice quick then  - just read that the BBC have cancelled it. Cancelling a brilliant series before its time? Whoever heard of such a thing - again...

confuse

oh no, I have just started to get into this as well. I was hoping that Flint would have a bigger role in series 3. Do you think that Damo is going to be known as the kiss of death to all great BBC drama series?

Nooooo! He's the great survivor, of course - he flits from (temporary) hit to hit spreading his glamour and bringing the loyal fans - it's the Director General of the Beeb who is the typhoid Mary of all good drama...

Our very own Lord Toby had this to say about it on twitter ~

"Saw @damienmolony in Body of an American tonight. Absolutely stunning play and breathtaking performances from him & Willy Gaminara. Buzzing."
